Sunset Coven 9

Tia!!! I lost my wallet in LA. T_T But I had a great time so that's okay.

This part is short. I'm going to have to let you go. No matter what I wrote, I just can't seem to come up with anything. Maybe if you continue on for a bit more I can figure something out. Gomen.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
River crossed his arms, his arms bulging in the fitted leather jacket he wore at all times. He stood there, leaning against the desk, a very bored expression on his face. He wasn’t one to mingle, especially with those ‘others’ who appeared to be mere mortals but weren’t. They may have been able to hide from everyone else, but River always knew there was something off. That was why he was second in common, despite what he was.
Staring into the eyes of the man sitting across from him, he wondered how Toren ended up dealing with the Sinn-Jammers. He wasn’t surprised that Toren had connections with the man. Not by a long shot. He’d been by his leader’s side for 346 years, 235 days, and some hours in counting, so he knew that he had various…friends, for lack of a better term. More times then he wanted to count, he walked with him into the lands of wolves, shifters, sirens, and unfortunately witches. Still…the Sinn-Jammers? He shook his head. That was a whole new level.
“What exactly can I do for you?” River asked, his deep voice rippling through the air like a stone thrown into calm waters. Cool and soothing he could be, but his voice held a sharp, lethal edge to it. Something along the lines of, ‘I won’t rip you apart, if you don’t give me a reason to, so play nice.’
Jack shifted in his seat, the picture of total self-control. “I came to see the Warlord.”
“He’s not here right now.”
“It’s important that I talk to him immediately.”
“Why don’t you tell me what’s so important, and I’ll decide if you’ll talk to him or not.” River already knew the answer to be not. He hadn’t lied when he said that Toren was busy. What he wouldn’t say was that he was busy picking himself up. It’s his own damn fault.
Jack had never been a rash and foolish man. He wouldn’t walk into the home of someone whose alliance wasn’t set in stone. “Rumor has it that he was last scene with a certain witch.”
River’s didn’t speak. He didn’t even arch a brow to ask what the point was. He just stood there, a wall of boredom.
“I need to find that witch.”
“What for?”
“Find the witch and I’ll find the vampire.”
River’s eyes narrowed. Jack Jammer’s of the Sinn Jammers was leaving something out.
River had been at Jack’s bar a few weeks ago. He’d seen the red hair vampire and Jack. He’d heard the rumors as well. Whether they were true or not was another story. The point was, if anyone could locate the vampire it was Jack. So what was it that Jack wanted truly? “And when you find the vampire?”
“That doesn’t concern you,” Jack replied leaving no room to further the conversation. Fine, he can have his secrets, River thought.
River unfolded his arms. “Sorry. He can’t help you find your vampire, or the witch for that matter. Why don’t you try elsewhere? Perhaps to the witches home.”
Jack cleared his throat, a clear expression of how foolish that idea was. River almost laughed. No matter how much the Sinn-Jammer wanted to find his vampire, which had to be pretty damn bad if it brought him into the hells of the colony, he wasn’t so desperate to knock on the dark mages door.
“It’s important that he lets me know anything.”
“I’ll tell him that when he’s free.”
Jack stood and escorted himself out of the room.
River let out a deep breath. Being around the Sinn-Jammer put his scales on edge. Something was off about the guy. Whether it was a good thing or not, he didn’t know. He was just happy the Sinn-Jammer had always been a reasonable guy. Except where that vampire was concerned. River could detect the hiding rage Jack concealed. What pissed him off so?
River waited until word reached him that Jack had left the ground completely before leaving the house him self to venture down below ground to the nest where all the dragons lived. Their numbers were dwindling. The last thing they wanted was for someone to find their living quarters and try to exterminate them completely. Not that it would be an easy mission, but the risk wasn’t worth taking. That was why all meetings conducted were held in the house above.
Smoke, fire, and ash, things people unfamiliar with the dragon’s nest, did not fill the air. What kind of environment would is that to raise the few hatchlings they had. The nest was like a miniature underground city. Tunnels enormous enough to accommodate the size of the largest dragon in the colony plus some twisted and ran through the entire compound, some leading nowhere, others leading to family homes.
River took the tunnel that lead to Toren’s house. He slipped inside, nodding to the few people who were inside, and entered Toren’s room. He sighed upon seeing his lord sitting on the bed, a mass of bruises and peeling skin. The peeling would stop in a few hours. A dragon couldn’t really be harmed by dragon fire. It was the gas that damaged him. The bruises would also vanish within a day. But he would definitely be sore. There was no way around that.
Toren peeled a patch of skin from his arm and tossed it on the floor. “What did the Sinn-Jammer want?”
River wanted nothing more than to scold his friend, tell him to lay back and allow his body to properly heal, but his concern would be wasted, same way as any other time. He would do whatever he wanted to anyway. Might as well give him what he wanted and save the headache. “Your witch.”
Steam and fire flared out Torin’s nostrils. River shrugged. He was pass warning Toren about his actions. You reap what you sow, right? “Don’t flame me. I told you to stay away from her and the vampire. You choose to play with fire and got burnt. Black magic? Really? You sure know how to pick them.”
Once again steam flowed from Toren’s nostrils, this time a warning. River held his hands up in surrender and controlled his rolling eyes.
“What did he want with her?” He tossed another patch of skin.
Disgusting, River thought. “To find the vampire, of course.”
Toren grunted. He pulled the tattered T-shirt over his head and threw it.
River’s eyes locked on his neck. “Where’s your necklace?” he asked although he already knew the answer.
Toren hesitated. “She has it.”
This time, the steam came from River.
Suri burst with anger. “Awww, hell no!”
Jime stomped on Suri’s foot, not even bothering to cover up her action.
She wanted to laugh at how dense she had been to not know he was Him. Instead, she settled for rolling her eyes at the horrible joke that he made. “Of all the sex jokes in the world, you settled for, ‘I’m growing’?” Is that the best you have?”
“I’m done,” Suri said, resigned. “That’s it. I’m going back home. Vampires I can handle, even stinking wolves and sparkling faeries, but gods? No no no no no. Even I know when to cave in.”
“She’s a submissive one,” He commented. “Just how I like them. Why don’t you come over here and I’ll show you what real submission can feel like.”
“How about not,” Jime commented before Suri opened her mouth and landed them both in hot water. “The view is perfect over here, so much naked gorgeous warm flesh.”
“Don’t be a spoil sport La Reina.” He said blissfully. “Come. Join us.”
Jime felt her limbs lock. Damn.
Sunset Coven 8
Suri, sorry about the humongous delay, I was just not happy with what I wrote and kept deleting...
Jime gently grabbed Suri’s palm and read the address. Greece, great, now she could make a guess as to what Traitor-Toren had said about Him not being really a werewolf, add to that the many little facts she had gathered and she felt plenty sure her nervous swallow was going to be pretty much deserved. Jime motioned Suri’s hand back into the ground and looked at her niece with intent, making Suri nervous.
“What?” Suri asked sounding like the quintessential teenager.
“You called on Hecate. You do realize that was black magic, don’t you?” Jime slit her eyes trying to install a good amount of healthy fear into the girl.
“Hey, I had it under control, besides, there was no actual blood sacrifice and-”
“You didn’t break the circle, when the explosion happened all those ex-werewolves died.”
Suri looked at Jime for a pregnant moment, and her defensive attitude deflated like so much week-old balloons after a long birthday party.
“Oh.” Was all she managed to say.
“Yeah, Oh.” Jime rubbed her face with her hand, trying to rid herself of the lingering anger. “Look, I’m not going to mother you about this, if you think you can keep The Dark at bay, and believe me, it will come to tempt you, then you can. I just want you to understand something: Now, every time you get a desire to do something that your conscience knows is wrong, you’re gonna have to battle it twice as hard, because that’s how it begins. That’s how it went for your father. Speaking of which, the little bugger came looking after you back at the Underground. He’s close. Just so you know.”
“Well, Damn.” Suri thought about her vow to kill Toren… was that The Dark worming its way into her soul, or was that what her response would have been all along? Now she didn’t know for sure, and it sucked ass.
“No offense dear niece, but your father is such a disappointment to me, you can’t begin to imagine. And as such, I kind of thought you wouldn’t follow in his footsteps. His mother, that’s your late grandmother, thought that having me as his surrogate big sister would be good for him. I guess we were both wrong. I underestimated the power of The Dark on his soul.”
“I won’t go bad, I swear, have a little faith in me.” The hurt tone of Suri’s reply softened Jime’s heart, so she let the subject drop.
They sighed in unison and contemplated their surrounding for a while, working their thoughts privately, until Jime rubbed her hands.
“Well, the show must go on as they say, how much time do you need to work that earth magic and heal yourself?”
“Uhm, I think about… maybe… three hours or so.”
“Ok.” Jime took out a cellphone for her back pocket and started fiddling with the touch screen.
Suri raised her eyebrows at that. “Where did you get that?”
“I stole it from James’ place. I went there to figure out what had happened with you. Hey! You know it’s pretty amazing what this little gadget can do! I am awed I tell you. Awed!” She quickly found what she looked for. “Looky-here!” She moved the screen for Suri to see. “There’re apps for everything in this thing. It just so happens that 3 hours from now is perfect to teleport ourselves to that greek island on your hand, it’s a greek island I have been to before by the way, so there won’t be any trouble finding the exact address quickly, anyway, the sunrise-sunset app says it will still be dark by that time so I won’t turn toasty-pants immediately and will have time to find a hole to hide in, isn’t it awesome?” Jime suddenly turned wistful “Girl, the greek sun glinting over that azure sea, so warm and beautiful, I remember it like it was yesterday…” She cleared her throat. “Well, no sense in dwelling in the past.”
She chuckled softly but Suri hadn’t been born yesterday, she could feel something was up with that comment Jime said. Something important.
~~~~~~~~~
Sage dreaded what was about to happen. Dreaded it. He gingerly approached the door handle and just as he was about to touch it the door opened hard revealing a very angry-looking woman.
“Did you find my baby?” She demanded.
“Uhm, well my dear, not quite, you see-”
“What the hell have you been doing then? Can’t you do a simple search-and-rescue now? Aren’t you the all-mighty black mage Sage, feared throughout all lands? Have you shriveled so much?” She said with disgust.
“But pumpkin-” Sage tried to hide his chagrin, but as it always were, he could never hide anything from his wife.
“I see you didn’t find her, well, what did I expect from you, you never could rise to the occasion when it mattered, oh no, not you, you think yourself so great don’t you, but you’re nothing more than a self-inflated, two-timing, stick in the mud is what you are!” She threw her hands in the air and walked inside, Sage following at her heels with his usual defeated shoulders a heavy burden upon him.
“ I don’t know what possessed me to marry your sorry ass! All you do is ruin whatever you come in contact with! I just knew I shouldn’t have told you about my baby’s disappearance! You are by far the worst father to have ever existed!” She swirled around and pointed her accusatory finger at him, pinning him on the spot with her Death-Glare (Suri had to get that from somebody) “You listen to me now, and you listen good: If anything happens to my daughter, anything at all, I will hold you responsible, it will be all your fault, as it is right now!”
“Yes, dear.”
~~~~~~~
James was creeped out.
He would never get used to they way vampires, and other creatures of the lore, just up and disappeared like a puff of smoke. One second there, the next gone.
Having Jime drop on him every once in a while was unnerving to the nth degree. Just remembering her reminded him of his brush with death, and the horrible realization that he could do nothing to save his little sister from it as well, when that vampire had ambushed them both and Jime had saved them.
He still didn’t understand why she had done that, he couldn’t even work up the nerve to ask. A strong feeling of disgust always overwhelmed him, and having nothing to do with vampires was all he could think about whenever the occasion came to ask her.
It was also weird as hell the fact that Jime was so hot and he was attracted to her. Talk about issues! But he could never go to therapy for that. They’d lock him up in the nuthouse in the blink of an eye and then who’d take her of his sister Jamie?
James went about deleting the videos Jime had wanted to see, he didn’t know what was going on and he didn’t want to know, let her go on with her unnatural undead life, the less he knew the better. When he was finished Jamie sashayed in like a teen storm, as was her predilection. She liked making entrances and exists in dramatic fashion. He chuckled affectionately.
“James!!!!!” she bellowed.
“Oh no,” he murmured then said aloud “Did something happen?”
“My Iphone is gone! I can’t find it anywhere! I’m going to die! This is the end of my social life, I can’t bare it! Do something!”
“Your Iphone? Weird, I just saw it, it was right here beside the radio…” he turned to grab it but it was gone.
“Why was it here anyway? I did not left it there!”
“You did, remember when your friend called and asked something and you went to check your room to look for something she asked you about, but you didn’t come back because you got hungry and went to the kitchen to make yourself a sandwich…”
“Oh God! You didn’t remind me! I totally left her waiting and she probably hung up and is right this moment totally angry with me and I can’t even call her back because my Iphone is gone!” Jamie started to sob “It’s your fault!”
James scratched his head and sighed “Don’t worry, I’ll buy you a new one, but you gotta be more careful with it, this is the fifth time this happens.”
“Alright! Thank you big bro!” She kissed his forehead and skipped happily around the room “You’re the best big brother ever!”
James went back to tracking aliens, his favorite hobby. His now teen sister could be a pain but that was the one thing he was grateful about. She was alive and living her life large. Thanks to Jime.
~~~~~~~~
“So, you ready?” Jime asked.
“I think so, let’s do this.” Suri said as she got ready and started to get up from the floor.
She wavered with a little dizziness but was soon right again, her back still stinging but the wounds were so much better she surprised herself. “How does it look?”
“It will take time, but there won’t be much scars left in the long run. Right now it’s all red and angry-looking, could you make some sort of bandaging with herbs or something to protect your back from the sand we will encounter in Greece?”
“Yeah, piece of cake, I got supplies in the car…”
“Cool, let’s get to it then, we’ll have to ditch Jack here though, grab the essentials to take with us, too bad we can’t teleport it.” Jime got wistful again.
“One day you’ll have to tell me what the real deal is with you and Jack Jammer-of-the-Sinn-Jammers.” Suri said as they walked to the car.
Jime got round the car and started fumbling with the things inside it, blatantly ignoring Suri’s comment, whistling.
“You’ll have to rid it of all the spells you put on it, can’t have a bespelled car just laying around all willy-nilly. You think you have enough juice for that and teleporting to Greece?”
“No problem.” Suri chuckled at the failed attempt at changing the subject.

When they were ready they teleported.

Suri had to admit, the balmy air, the smell of the ocean, it was almost magical. Greece at night was gorgeous, specially this island they were standing on. She hadn’t done much traveling during her life, but now that she was immortal she was planning on doing tons and tons of it for a long time to come. This was a great start.
Jime was having mix emotions right at that moment. She liked Greece, she would swear she could almost feel the lingering heat of the day’s sun still hovering over the rocks and white-washed walls of the various houses around. The ocean had a certain ageless pureness to it that was comforting to her as time passed inextricably by and everything changed except her and it. But all the natural wonders of the world couldn’t remove the unpleasant nervous butterflies of finally coming so close to Him. The Sexy-Beast. Now that she really thought about it she didn’t understand how stupid she had been. Of course he wasn’t a were-wolf. The man could turn into anything he wanted, probably. And all that sexual prowess she heard about could only come from one. But if her suspicions were right, hell, she didn’t want to think about the possibilities, just the facts, and those would only happen if she marched on ahead.

Suri and Jime faced the mansion at the top of the hill. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Elegant, clean lines, greens all around, with views to elicit the biggest envy.
The hot guard at the entrance took one look at them and let them inside.
“The master is waiting for you” he said. “Just walk up to the front gates, a servant will escort you from there.”

Suri and Jime got jittery, but nevertheless went. At the front of the mansion the gates opened and a beautiful young woman smiled at them and waved for them to come inside and follow. Suri shot a raised eyebrow at Jime, silently asking her what the hell was going on, Jime shrugged her I’ll be damned if I know shrug.

They walked, it seemed, for half an hour around the place, passing inner gardens and expensively furnished rooms and hallways, a couple of beautiful people here and there, no matter if they looked like guests or servants or whatever, they were all good-looking, which hackled Jime’s suspicions even further. There was an air of solemnity in the place that had Suri not wanting to even speak lest she offend or something, which was unnerving and stupid to even think about, but she couldn’t shake the feeling. It was WEIRD.

At last they arrived at a huge room, and just as they walked inside Jime’s eyes widened and Suri let out a gasp.

“Is that-” Suri managed to ask as Jime covered Suri’s eyes with her hands. “-an orgy?”

From across the room a single magnificent naked male figure stood up from the sea of moaning bodies writhing in ecstasy, he gulp from the goblet of wine he was handed and said “Yes! Fresh flesh for my feast, I was growing –get it, growing- weary of the same old bodies.”

Suri burst with anger “Awww HELL NO.”
